Born in 1980, in the Asian side of Istanbul, I am still living in Bostanci. Here is the region where I spent my peaceful childhood years. Towards adolescence, I grew an interest in skating and practiced it as much as I can at the coast of Caddebostan. Then the time came to cross to the other side. I began secondary school in Cagaloglu Anadolu Lisesi and became familiar with the region around Sultanahmet and Eminönü. It was pretty different than the place I lived, in the way that it offered a good deal of diversity and colorfulness as well as chaos. As it made a deep impression on me, this region of Istanbul is simply irreplaceable in my life.

It occurs to me that the reason why i swing between peace and anxiety is the difference in natures of those environments, the difference between Bostanci and Eminönü, between ferry and bus. Apparently the right side of the balance needed more for I started to play drums in high school. Music has become the primal media for self-expression in my life. It guided me to Beyoglu and Kadiköy, to Atlas and to Akmar. My favorite vehicle was dolmus. Thanks heavens, I got an acception from Istanbul University which was not very far away from the region I knew well. In the idle moment that came after I finished University in the department of Tourism Administration, it was music again, which showed me the way. However this time, it was rather visual than audial. With the material I had collected in my memory from music, artworks, videos and movies, I thought I could produce something. That was the reason why I started studying graphic design.

The website I designed for the band Sakin, denekhayatlar.com is the most solid, up-to-date consequence of my visual imagination and articulation. It is also very important for me in the sense that into my greatest muse, music, this work is the most integrated of all.
